The best DeFi portfolio tracker for a particular wallet is the one that represents its important positions, liabilities and valuation limits clearly. Start with the chains and protocols you actually use, then check whether the displayed total can be reconciled to those positions. A large total or a long coverage list is less useful when you cannot explain what it includes.
This shortlist considers DeBank, Zerion, CoinStats and Bluwhale through public documentation and a proposed reconciliation exercise. It is not a tested ranking. The worked example is synthetic and illustrates accounting questions a user can ask without making an investment decision.
Define the portfolio boundary
List the wallet addresses and networks that belong in the review. Then list the position types that matter: tokens held directly, supplied collateral, borrowed assets, liquidity positions, staked assets and claimable rewards. Include any exchange or bank balance only if the intended overview extends beyond those wallets.
Separate visibility from ownership. A public address can reveal activity without proving that the person viewing it controls the assets. Likewise, a token in a wallet can represent a claim on another position rather than an additional independent asset.
Write down what the total should mean. Gross assets, net assets after liabilities and immediately available funds answer different questions. A useful tracker should help you understand the distinction instead of presenting one number as sufficient for every decision.
DeBank for an onchain position-data evaluation
DeBank's user API documents protocol positions and fields for asset, debt and net values, including update information [1]. That makes its data model relevant when evaluating how a wallet's DeFi exposure is represented.
Check the specific network and protocol positions in your inventory. Compare underlying assets, debt and position identifiers rather than relying only on the aggregate number. For a developer, inspect the response contract and update fields. For a dashboard user, verify which of those details are actually exposed in the interface.
API documentation is evidence about the documented data contract. It is not a hands-on test of every current interface or a guarantee that every position you hold is covered.
Zerion for a wallet and portfolio workflow evaluation
Zerion presents wallet and portfolio functionality alongside transaction features [2]. It is a candidate when the review concerns the relationship between viewing positions and the wallet experience used around them.
Ask whether the required networks, position types and liabilities are represented. Inspect how a position's displayed value relates to its underlying tokens. If you only need to view a portfolio, establish which features can be evaluated through a public address and which require additional permissions.
Keep tracking accuracy and transaction functionality as separate evaluation questions. The availability of an operation does not establish that the displayed portfolio captures every liability or that the operation is appropriate for the user.
CoinStats for a broader account-inventory evaluation
CoinStats describes tracking across wallets, exchanges and DeFi [3]. It is relevant when the desired inventory includes more than onchain wallet positions.
Use a source list that distinguishes connected exchange balances from wallet assets and protocol positions. Check whether the same economic exposure appears in more than one place. Ask how updates, missing connections and manually added records are represented.
A combined interface can make an inventory easier to review, but its usefulness still depends on the required sources and reconciliation rules. Verify the applicable features, permissions and current terms for your particular setup.
Bluwhale for a financial-context evaluation
Bluwhale's individual offering describes connected financial context and agents [5]. It belongs in this comparison when the question extends from viewing DeFi positions to understanding them within a broader financial workflow.
Ask for a demonstration using the actual position types required by your task. Establish what is available now, how liabilities and source timestamps are represented and which records support an explanation. Do not assume complete DeFi coverage from the broader financial-context proposition.
The decision is whether the additional workflow reduces useful work for the user. A specialized agent should make its context and limits inspectable; a conversational interface alone does not resolve missing positions or inconsistent valuations.
Check six dimensions of position coverage
Complete this worksheet for the positions you actually hold. A coverage gap in an unused protocol may not affect your task, while a missing liability in a central position can change the interpretation of the entire total.
Reconcile assets and debt with a worked example
Suppose a synthetic portfolio contains 6,000 in supplied collateral and 4,000 in other distinct assets. It also has a related borrowing position valued at 3,000. Under these simplified assumptions, gross assets are 10,000 and net assets are 7,000.
The example assumes the other assets are distinct and all values use a comparable observation time and currency. If borrowed proceeds remain in the wallet, they may appear among the assets while the corresponding debt remains a liability. Their origin does not remove the need to account for both sides consistently.
Now add claimable rewards with no reliable price in the dataset. Preserve the token quantity and mark its value unavailable. Assigning zero would imply a valuation that the evidence has not established. The known net figure should identify that limitation.
This is a reconciliation exercise, not a measure of liquidation safety or spendable funds. Aave's documentation illustrates that protocol-specific collateral and debt rules determine liquidation conditions [4]. A positive portfolio-wide net value cannot substitute for checking the relevant position's own rules and state.
Investigate differences between trackers
Compare the same address set, network scope and observation period. Then examine differences in coverage, prices, debt treatment and duplicate representation. Two dashboards can disagree because they answer slightly different questions, even before considering a data error.
Begin with the largest unexplained position difference. Trace it to its underlying components and source time. Check whether one product includes pending, claimable or manually entered information that the other excludes. Keep a note of unresolved differences instead of forcing the totals to match.
When using public addresses for a read-only review, no transaction signature is needed merely to establish your expected position inventory. If a service requests additional access for a feature, inspect what that feature requires. Treat viewing, connecting a wallet and approving an onchain operation as separate steps.
Choose the tracker that supports your recurring review
For a weekly DeFi inventory, prioritize required positions, liabilities, timestamps and explainable totals. For a combined wallet-and-exchange view, add source coverage and reconciliation across those accounts. For an agent-assisted explanation, add source traceability and the handling of incomplete context.
Record the maintenance effort as well as the first result. Can you find a missing position, correct an input and understand a changed total without rebuilding the portfolio manually? Request current availability and terms for the features you need; this article does not assign prices or universal coverage claims.
Use the shortlist to choose what to test next. For Bluwhale, ask for a concrete demonstration of your portfolio question and the supporting records. For every candidate, keep a clearly scoped total more valuable than a confident total whose components cannot be checked.

Frequently asked questions
Why do two DeFi trackers show different totals?
They may include different networks, positions, debts, prices or observation times. Compare the components and portfolio boundary before assuming that the larger or newer-looking number is correct.
Is a receipt token always an additional asset?
It can represent a claim on an underlying position already included in the portfolio. Establish the economic relationship before counting both values. The correct treatment depends on the actual position and the tracker's representation.
Does positive net value mean a borrowing position is safe?
No. Portfolio net value and protocol-specific liquidation conditions answer different questions. Inspect the relevant position's rules and current state rather than treating a consolidated total as a risk guarantee.
Which tracker wins this shortlist?
No overall winner is assigned. The appropriate candidate depends on verified coverage, the task and the effort required to reconcile the result. The article provides a method, not comparative performance findings.
What should a tracker show for an unsupported DeFi position?
Identify the missing network, protocol or position and state whether the displayed total is incomplete. An unavailable valuation should remain unavailable; it should not silently become a confirmed zero. Keep the known token quantity when that information is available.
Can I compare DeFi trackers with a public wallet address?
A public address can support a read-only position inventory where the service offers that feature. It does not prove ownership or require you to authorize a transaction merely to establish what positions you expect to see. Evaluate any separately requested connection or signing permissions on their own terms.
